Practice Gratitude And Appreciation As Often As You Can!

Showing appreciation is one of the easiest ways to feel better right away. No matter what is going on in your life, you can always find something to be thankful for. Count your blessings and watch it multiply. When you spend more of your energy expressing appreciation, then by default, you will spend less time worrying about the small stuff that may arise. Your energy goes where you focus it.  This is how the Law of Appreciation works. So, practice the technique of appreciation often. I don’t know about you, but I prefer to spend my energy in a state of appreciation.

Practicing gratitude greatly improves physical and mental health. You can’t help but feel happy when you practice gratitude. Happiness lowers emotional distress, combats anxiety, and improves sleep. Some research also shows the effects can lower blood pressure and blood sugar and improve the immune system. Why wouldn’t you want a healthy dose of happiness to improve your health?

Do you want to have deeper and more meaningful relationships with the people in your life? One of the leading ways to do so is through gratitude and appreciation. It works as a double portion of relationship building. First, it’s hard to see the flaws or to judge others if we train ourselves to look for the good and the best parts of people. Secondly, when you show people appreciation it builds trust and it’s an easy way for the other person to feel loved and accepted. So, if you ever find yourself struggling in a relationship, romantic and platonic, ask yourself if you are doing your part to show the other person how much you value and appreciate them.

📷Appreciation, at it’s best, is expressed not just thought about. It’s all about affirming the GOOD in your life and acknowledging the source through tangible actions. It’s one thing to say you are thankful and appreciate someone or thing but to show it is another. Expressing gratitude and appreciation may not come as second nature to you. However, it is a skill that can be strengthened with practice. The more you do it, the less you will have to think about it because your body will go on autopilot and it will become a welcomed habit. Here are some suggestions on how to practically show appreciation and gratitude.

  1. Spend time with someone you love and tell them how much they mean to you. Don’t take for granted that others know how you feel about them. And even if they do, actions speak louder than words.

  2. Be with others who make you smile. Smiles and laughter are infectious. Being around people that make you smile, allows you to emotionally be able to “pay it forward” and spread the love on.

  3. Accept the good. It’s not just about facing and accepting the things in your life you can’t change, you also have to cognizant of all the good that surrounds you. There is always more good than bad in the world.

  4. Imagine the best. Perception is reality. If you perceive the things in your world to be good then that is what it will be.

  5. Do things you love. Sharpen your ability to appreciate others, by first finding things you love and integrating those things into your day to day life.

  6. Find purpose. G-d has given each of us a unique way to reach others. Tap into your purpose and let that drive you to improve the lives of others and your own.

  7. Listen to your heart. Being overly logical can lead to missed opportunities to express gratitude.

  8. Push yourself, not others. Push your self to be the first to forgive, first to extend friendship and the first to accept others.

  9. Do something nice for someone. Pour into others with your time, talents, and treasures.

  10. Write someone a note. A note sends the reader a quick word hug. Hugs are instant joy!

How you view your world and how you treat the people in it, will help you in practicing appreciation and gratitude. The best part is, it’s one of those things that will not only positively impact your life but also the people you come in contact with. Through your actions, you will begin to realize how amazing you are and you will be filled with the joy of showing appreciation of others.
